Publisher's Write-Up

Revelation Space: a quest for the secrets of the universe. Step into INFINITY and come with us on the ride of the century...

Nine hundred thousand years ago, something wiped out the alien Amarantin. Maybe it was pure bad luck that their star choose to flare just when they were on the verge of discovering space flight... or maybe luck had nothing to do with it.

I haven't read anything by this author before and I picked up this book purely on reading the publishers write-up, which sounded excellent. (see opposite, hope you agree seeing as how you have just read it:) It didn't disappoint.

Good old fashioned science fiction, almost like early Philip K Dick or Arthur C Clark and more recent Egan. Good solid science but with enough vision to predict potential future developments in technology realistically. I really enjoyed this novel and look forward to more from a potentially great SF author.

Quiz

I don't know if it's deliberate or not but near the beginning of the book there is a similar situation/quote to that in a cult Science Fiction novel of the 70's.

The first person to Identify the Quote, the Author and the Novel will win a copy of the next Terry Pratchett Discworld Novel after the date of the correct entry. I don't expect anyone to actually win this as, a) they would need to read the book, b) find the quote, and c) recognise it for what it is... hence I will give the prize if a correct answer is provided (author of either book should NOT enter:)

Competition closed 31st December 2005. No winners
