BookLore and The Big Read

The Big Read
The Big Read was created by the BBC as the country's biggest ever celebration of the magic of reading with the Top 100 reads voted for by members of the public... you and I in other words.
BookLore & The Big Read
BookLore unashamedly jumped on the BBC's bandwagon when it did The Big Read. Why? Because it was a very fine idea and generated an unprecedented interest in reading... which can only be good. We have kept these pages as a memento to this outstanding achievement by the BBC.

Big Read Top Book
For all those out there that may have missed it the Big Read 'winner' was JRR Tolkien's Lord of the Rings and is therefore the UK's best-loved book… or is that film?
At the end of the television series on 13th December 2003 three quarters of a million votes had been received via The Web, SMS and phone. See the final positions here – Top 21 by Result.

Top 21 Revealed
Clive Anderson revealed the Top 21 titles on BBC2 recently. Is your favourite title there? Is the content of the list a surprise? Some notable titles missing and surprisingly not a single Terry Pratchett novel in the Top 21... you can't please all the people I suppose.

Clive Anderson to Host The Big Read
Clive Anderson is to host BBC2's coverage of The Big Read this autumn. There are to be nine 90-minute programs, the first detailing the Top 100 and revealing the Top 21 from the votes cast earlier in the year. Seven shows will then feature 3 books from the Top 21 with each title being championed by a celebrity.
The final show at the end of the year will detail the votes cast for the Top 21 books and reveal the overall winner and Nations Favourite Read.
