Publisher's Write-Up

Your world is about to change - Otherland - Shrouded in secrecy, it is home to the wildest dreams and darkest nightmares.

Vast amounts of money have been lavished on it.

The best minds of two generations have laboured to build it.

And somehow, bit by bit, it is claiming Earth's most valuable resource - its children.

A novel of dazzling ideas, non-stop adventure and irresistible characters, Otherland, the first part of an epic new series by a master storyteller, is destined to become a landmark in imaginative fiction.

Well, what can I say? I am still alive (boredom has not killed me) after reading this one? I still have a voice (after shouting at the characters who are always doing it wrong) and I still read the following two and I'm waiting for the fourth ( and hopefully last) to read. It is just an interminably long, very complicated story.

The main characters are Renie (a computer lecturer) and !Xabbu, her student ( a bushman). There seems to be an epidemic where children are falling into comas and are not recovering. This happens to Renie's brother, Stephen, and she starts to investigate... Ho Hum... Here we go...

Well, illegal dealings on the Web are only the start of it, with people living their lives plugged in... sort of Better Than Life, but different. Very HUGE story. Warped man, Mr Williams, but unlike most series, I will probably not start at the beginning of the series (Editor's note) to read the new one (when I find it!) But although it drove me insane I did enjoy it, and I want to know what is happening next... (Hint... I doubt that Mr Williams is interested, but you never know...).

Editor's Note: When Chrissi gets the latest copy in a series she will go back and re-read all the books before starting the new one... I know, insane.
