Leeds has been overrun by vampires. The world saving duties fall upon an age-old vampire hunter guiding five reluctant twenty-something students through the nightmare.

And two of them are already dead!

The action takes place over a three-day period, following each of our heroes as they become more involved with the bizarre supernatural occurrences; how they come to terms with the hellish reality and how they deal with the new character traits surfacing in each other.

It is a story of basic good versus ultimate evil; a time of self-discovery for all of the leading protagonists. It features schlock horror, action adventure, love and suspense wrapped up with self-referential humour, situation comedy and a celebration of popular cultural icons.

Booklore received this novel directly from the publisher/author and since it is a black comedy horror I was lucky enough to get to review it… hmmm, what are they trying to tell me?

The story is about a group of student friends and their fight against a plague of vampires spawned by the Dark Lord. Nothing new really you may say and you would be right. However, the writing is witty and fast paced, and although very tongue in cheek at times it all works well and brings a smile to your face as you read.

A cross between 'Interview with a Vampire', 'Buffy' and 'Carry on Screaming', Blood Lust is a must for all Vampire fans who have a dark sense of humour and are not put off by the phrase 'ripped his arm off and plunged it through his chest'.
