Publisher's Write-Up

Long before Pay It Forward, David Wagner was changing the world by making other people’s day. Join him and thousands of others across the country who are committed to changing the world through intentional acts of good will.

A client came into David Wagner’s hair salon to have her hair done for the evening. When asked about her plans she answered, “I just want to look and feel good tonight.” They laughed and joked throughout the appointment and when the client left, she smiled radiantly and hugged David goodbye. To David, this was another pleasant half an hour spent with a client. He didn’t know then that he had changed this woman’s life.

A few days later David received a letter from the woman. She explained that she had planned to commit suicide the day she came in and wanted to look good for her funeral. David’s attention and caring had made her feel that maybe things could get better. She checked herself into a hospital and got professional help. He had made her day—and saved her life.

This encounter changed David Wagner’s life as well. When he realized the difference you can make for others, whether by spending a light-hearted half an hour together, giving them a smile, or simply letting them into traffic, his whole approach to life shifted. He asked himself, why have random acts of kindness when you can have intentional acts of good will? David’s life work became Daymaking, a conscious effort to touch the heart and soul of every person he encounters. Just as it has for David, Life as a Daymaker is sure to create a revolution of love and light in your life.

The first page of this wonderful book reads: Daymaker – n. A person who performs acts of kindness with the intention of making the world a better place.

This small, compact, yet fantastic book offers a wealth of opportunities to spread cheer, encouragement or advice to anyone who opens its cover. In today’s self-centred society, author David Wagner offers suggestions on how to make one’s life more meaningful and rewarding, using a single, simple premise. Kindness. Yes, it’s that simple. How much of a difference can one person make? Plenty, if one considers the ripple effect caused by a solitary kind word or deed to anyone who needs it.

Every chapter is prefaced and filled with quotes and sayings from the famous to the not-so-famous, words of encouragement and ways each one of us can make positive changes not only in our own personal lives, but in those around us as well.

Author Wagner has taken an enormous amount of literary research and combined that with his own views and opinions to create a touching and reverent look at what makes humans so unique – our own humanity. A friendly, compassionate writing style, combined with the usage of wonderful and timely quotes offers the reader an encouraging avenue of hope in today’s confusion and uncertainties.

In demand as a world famous hair stylist, Wagner is the owner of Juut Salonspas. Long identified with the beauty product Aveda, Wagner has taught his ‘Daymaker’ concept to thousands since 1986.
