Publisher's Write-Up

Shocking. Compulsive. And sure to shatter your peace of mind.

Written with breakneck pace and unrelenting suspense, The Art of Breaking Glass introduces the most compelling relationship since Hannibal Lecter met Clarice Starling in Silence of the Lambs.

He has a razor-sharp mind and a dangerously twisted sense of justice. She has a tragic past and a score to settle. His obsession with her will bring a whole city to its knees.

Can she stop him? Does she really want to stop him?

I am sorry but this one does not live up to the blurb on the cover. As you know, I like finding new authors to read, and I got this one looking forward to a good story.

It is written well enough, but I did not find that I had a great deal of empathy for any of the characters, and as for the bit "His obsession with her will bring a whole city to its knees" - I must have a copy with that episode missing.

Unfortunately, the blurb is a bit of a misrepresentation, and as such it spoilt the book for me. I think that the positive comparison to the Silence of the Lambs (a book that I really did enjoy) kind of set this one up to fail. I know that they do slightly over egg the book in the blurb, just to get you to read it, but this is an occasion where it did not do the author, nor his novel, any favours.
