This book is about a team of children called The Time Detectives. They investigate historical events of a more gruesome nature in a very accessible way. In other words history that is fun :)

This story, the first in the series, tells the tale of an old lady living in the last house of a street being knocked down and everyone thinks she is a witch.

The book looks at the history of witches and the ways people tried to find out if you were a witch, like dunking and throwing them off cliffs. It was really good and showed the more superstitious side of human nature.
