by Chrissi Whilst it took me a little while to get the characters straight in my head, once they became familiar to me, the story flowed beautifully. We forget how much the world has changed in a very short period of time, and for those of us old enough to remember the Russian Superpower under the Communist government, we were frightened that either of the superpowers could press a button at any time. At the end of total Communist rule, there was jubilation as people celebrated the fall of the Berlin wall, followed by queues for daily necessities and then the arrival of McDonalds in Moscow. Reading this book reminded me of those scenes on the television and in the newspapers about the situation in Russia at that time, making for a very vivid reading experience. I liked Alex as a hero, and would be interested to see how International Private Investigations develops and where it may take him in the future. |
