Howard Tilley was born in 1975 in South Derbyshire and still lives there to this day (we are not sure if he has been away in between… we will have to ask:). Coming from a very poor working family, which could only afford to keep Christmas once every five years, he took up moose baiting as a way of staying alive. It failed more than it succeeded. It was around this time that his interest in hitting a keyboard without due care and attention began, or as he likes to call it, computer programming. He started out on the Commodore 64 before moving onto the Amiga and later finishing up on the more advanced Lawn Mower 500, which still crashes from time to time... into trees mostly. This interest in computer programming culminated in 1995 when he sold his first computer game. Later on he started to write books. Comedy he hopes, and set in the Roman era. The reason it was set so long ago was because he would be able to parody a lot of modern culture, or so he says. His humour is very much in the style of Monty Python's Flying Circus - off the wall and imaginative. Sometimes it can be subtle, and sometimes it's groan-worthy, but he tries to make it original nevertheless. At least that's what it says on the tin. Oh yes, and he avoids clichés like the plague. Howard's Website is very impressive, so if you are interested in the author and his works take a quick look using the link below. Check out BookLore's exclusive interview with Howard Tilley here. He regularly attends book signings according to his press officer (when pressed) and spends the rest of his time behind another computer keyboard, only this time he knows which keys he's bashing. |
